Ciao, I am Claudia the founder of MBM Yoga and a 500 hours Yoga Alliance qualified teacher.
My first exposure to yoga was in 2009 in the Middle East when during a critical time in my life and in search of relaxation and inner focus I decided to join my first yoga class.
I started practising yoga (asana) simply as a form of exercise and for many years it was that! An activity that made me feel better, rejuvenated, and healthier… for the duration of the class and shortly after…I never understood why, but it always felt good and that feeling always made me want to go back to it! I now realise that a seed had been planted which was organically growing in the subconscious.
I had a highly demanding job in the corporate world which sent me across the world but also sent me out of joint! My practice was irregular, one thing though was constant, in the most challenging times of my life, no matter where I was, I found myself on the yoga mat and that gave me whatever I needed to stay centered.
Maybe a calling maybe a series of coincidences, after leaving the corporate world I found myself, without much planning, enrolled in a 200 Yoga Teacher Training at One Yoga in the beautiful island of Kho Phangan in Thailand.
This is where I met many wonderful teachers and also who I considered to be my inspiration in my journey and who continued to be my teacher Alex V of Higher Yoga Academy (HYA). It is with HYA under the guidance of Alex and Christiaan Virant that I completed an additional 300 hours of Yoga Teacher Training. Alex and Christiaan guided my practice in ways that helped me realised how yoga exists both on and off the mat. During this time I learned and delved deeper into Yoga Philosophy, Meditation and Pranayama (Breathwork).
I am particularly interested in the power of breath. Understanding that there is more to it than what is practiced in a standard yoga asana class. I branched out and shifted my perspective towards breathwork studies looking also at the science behind it. The most natural act, breathing, has so much in relation to well-being. What happens in the body and mind when we breathe, how it effects our health and how the ancient practice of Pranayama works in modern time.
I teach classes to introduce Meditation and Breathwork techniques with the prime focus to help with stress management. I am committed to offer and share what I have learnt with anyone who like me has suffered or is still suffering from work related anxiety, pressures from work, sleep disorder and imbalances. I also like to offer classes to learn movements that are functional and look at the anatomy, where we learn how to 'feel' a pose. I’d like to think that my classes are informative and fun, you can come and try it out for yourself!
